Renishaw: RSLM / E / R / C 20µm - Stainless Steel scale
The RSLM spar scale is an exciting addition to the range, which offers performance to rival fine pitch glass scales yet is available in lengths up to 5 m. RSLM offers a total accuracy (including slope and linearity) better than ±4 µm over 5 m – an industry first! RSLM is perfect for long travel applications where metrology cannot be compromised.

This high accuracy scale is offered with multiple IN-TRAC™ reference mark positions:

Scale mid-point (RSLM)

20 mm or 70 mm from the scale end-point (RSLE)

Regularly spaced every 200 mm for customer selection (RSLC)

The RSL range of scales are compatible with VIONiC™ and TONiC™ readheads

Can be used as part of a Functional Safety system when used with TONiC™ FS readheads. IMPORTANT: Only self-adhesive mounted RSLM scale is FS approved. Clip and clamps must not be used to mount RSLM scale in an FS application.>/li>

RSLM20 is a stainless steel spar scale featuring 20 µm pitch and a variety of IN-TRAC optical reference mark options, including regularly spaced for customer selection or single reference at the centre or close to the end.

It is comparable to fine pitch glass scales and offers a total accuracy (including slope and linearity) better than ±4 µm over a 5 m length. It can also be coiled for simple storage and handling yet once uncoiled behaves as a spar scale.
System designers can choose between specially formulated adhesive tape or mechanical clips to suit mounting requirements. Both mounting methods allow for independent thermal expansion to that of the substrate.

RSLM / E / R / C 20µm - Stainless Steel scale

The following 16 digit alpha-numeric codes describe the scale.

RSLR = No reference mark; RSLM = ref mark at midpoint; RSLE = ref mark close to end of scale (see comments), not available for length < 80 mm.

RSLC = selectable ref mark every 200 mm (magnetic selector maybe required - A-9653-0143). Not available for lengths <280 mm.

Some part numbers will need to be added to the system, which adds 2-3 weeks to the lead time for the initial order.

All scale lengths up to 1 metre are supplied with required length of adhesive backing tape. For scale lengths over 1 metre the customer will be supplied with a 5 metre roll of adhesive backing tape.

NOTE: Offering special low prices for 5 length of RSLCs, with shorter lead time.

RSLE scales can be ordered with the reference mark either 20 mm (A option, A-9683-xxxx) or 70 mm (B option, A-9689-xxxx) from the scale end. The A option should only be used with 10 mm limit markers.
