It is particularly well suited for milling-turning, HSC and 5-axis machining on machines with up to 18 axes. The workshop oriented and versatile control features numerous functions. It is especially attractive for the following areas of application:
Universal milling machines
Combined milling-turning machines
High speed milling
Five-axis machining with swivel head and rotary table
Five-axis machining on very large machines
Boring mills
Machining centers and automated machining
The optimized user interface of the TNC 640 gives you a fast overview: various color coding, standardized table editors and smartSelect—the dialog-guided fast selection of functions—aid you at your work.
The TNC 640 features optimized motion control, short block processing times and special control strategies. Together with its uniform digital design and its integrated digital drive control including inverters, it enables you to reach very high machining speeds and the best possible contour accuracy—particularly when machining 3-D contours.
You can program turning contours with the TNC 640 in the familiar HEIDENHAIN plain language. Beyond this, you have typical contour elements for turning (recesses, undercuts, thread undercuts) as well as cycles for complex turning operations.

Heidenhain: CNC Controls (TNC 320 Series)
TNC 320 - The Compact Contouring Control for Milling, Drilling and Boring Machines
Thanks to its flexible operating concept – workshop-oriented programmability with HEIDENHAIN conversational programming or external programming – and its scope of features, it is especially suited for use on universal milling, drilling and boring machines for:
series and single-part production
tool and die making
manufacture of machines
research and development
prototype production and testing facilities
repair departments
educational and training institutes
The TFT 15-inch color monitor shows a clear overview of all relevant information for programming, operating and inspecting the machine tool and control such as program blocks, comments and error messages. More information is provided through graphic support during program entry, test run and actual machining. The selectable split-screen display shows the part program blocks in one half of the screen and the graphics or the status display in the other half. During the course of the program, status displays will always offer information on tool position, the current program, active cycles and coordinate transformations, and other data. The TNC 320 even shows the current machining time.
Heidenhain: CNC Controls (iTNC 530 Series)
iTNC 530 Contouring Control for milling, drilling, boring machines and machining centers
The iTNC 530 from HEIDENHAIN is a versatile, workshop-oriented contouring control for milling, drilling and boring machines as well as machining centers. The iTNC 530 is universal, and its broad and complex range of applications proves it.
The iTNC 530 features optimized motion control, short block processing times and special control strategies. Together with its uniform digital design and its integrated digital drive control including inverters, it enables you to reach very high machining speeds and the best possible contour accuracy—particularly when machining 2-D contours or 3-D shapes. The DCM dynamic collision monitoring (option) of the iTNC 530 cyclically monitors the working space of the machine for possible collisions with machine components and fixtures. With the AFC adaptive feed control (option), the iTNC regulates the feed rate automatically— depending only on the respective spindle power consumption and other process data. This optimizes the machining time, supports tool monitoring and reduces machine wear.
Heidenhain: CNC Controls (TNC 128 Series)
TNC 128 – The Compact Straight-Cut Control for Milling, Drilling and Boring Machines
The TNC 128 is a compact but versatile straight-cut control for three servo axes and servo spindle. A further servo axis is an option. Thanks to its simple operation and scope of features, it is especially well suited for use on universal milling, drilling and boring machines for:
Machine building
Workshop-Oriented Programming
Workshop-oriented programming is an important attribute of the TNC 128, particularly since the TNC controls are rooted in the workshop. In the past years, machining processes have become more complex, and the machines themselves more powerful. Throughout, the basic operation of the TNC controls has remained the same despite their continued development and improvement. The proven operation is also the basis for the user-friendly programming of the TNC 128, since it assists you during program creation with help graphics, practical prompts, machining cycles and cycles for coordinate transformation.
Simple Operation
For simple work, such as face milling, you need not write a program on the TNC 128. It is just as easy to operate the machine manually by pressing the axis keys or—for maximum sensitivity—using the electronic handwheel.
Offline Program Creation
The TNC 128 can be programmed remotely just as well. Your Fast Ethernet interface guarantees very short transfer times, even of long programs

Heidenhain: CNC Controls (MANUALplus 620 Series)
MANUALplus 620 – The Contouring Control for CNC and Cycle Lathes
For many years now, the MANUALplus has been proving itself in daily use on cycle lathes and is characterized particularly by convenient manual machine operation. Application-oriented cycle programming enables the machinist to create and edit programs rapidly and efficiently on the lathe. The introduction of the MANUALplus 620 extends the area of application to single-spindle CNC lathes. With the smart.Turn operating mode, HEIDENHAIN has made yet another step forward toward greater ease of use. Easily understandable program entry in forms, default setting for global values, selection options and straightforward graphic support ensure fast and easy operation. The new smart.Turn interface is based on the proven HEIDENHAIN DIN PLUS: smart.Turn creates DIN PLUS programs and provides both the NC programmer and the machine operator with all relevant information during program run. The MANUALplus 620 is designed for lathes with spindle, one slide (X and Z axis), C axis or positionable spindle and driven tool. It is suited for horizontal and vertical lathes with simple tool holders or with tool turrets. Cycle lathes are usually used for smaller and mid-size production batches. The operator of a MANUALplus 620 profits from the quickly learned cycle programming, with which workpieces can be machined quickly and efficiently. And when requirements increase and your machine complex tasks with your lathe, you then create your NC programs with the new smart.Turn programming mode. The smart.Turn programming mode of operation is the basis for NC programming on CNC lathes. This new type of NC programming is also mastered quickly, since the machinist does not have to deal with G or M functions, or with structuring a machining block. smart.Turn uses the easy-to-learn form entry method of programming.
