Why Use SMAC Cables?
SMAC actuators are used
in numerous high speed, high cycle applications and are guaranteed for millions
of cycles. For this reason, it is imperative that the cables used to connect
with our actuators are capable of similar arduous duty cycles and life span.
Only cables manufactured by SMAC can be guaranteed to meet the rigorous
standards required during use. Many years of experience has taught us that
cheaper third party cables simply are not up to the task required. They are, in
fact, one the most common causes of all the technical problems experienced by
our customers. The first question we always ask when a customer calls our
technical support office is "Are you using cables supplied and
manufactured by SMAC?" If the answer is no, then 99% of the time, we have
found the fault, right off the bat.
For this important
reason, SMAC produces in-house a range of high quality pre-tested cables for
use with all actuator/controller combinations. All SMAC cables have motor and
encoder signals separate from each other and shielded accordingly. All cables
manufactured by SMAC are 100% tested prior to shipping.
Standard cable lengths
are three meters; however, cables are available in longer lengths if required.
For applications where the actuator is being moved on another axis, SMAC
recommends the use of our "Superflex" cables which are available from
SMAC as an option across the range. For customers who do insist on supplying or
manufacturing their own cables, it should be noted and clearly understood that
the SMAC product warranty is invalid unless the cable has been fully checked
and authorized by an SMAC engineer prior to connection. Why take the risk? Why have
the hassles? By fitting SMAC manufactured cables, you can rest assured they are
of the right technical specification, fully tested and up to the job at hand.

Superflex is available as an option. Suitable for robotic applications.
1. Requires LAH-PT30-25 (Jumper to 25 pin cable) or LAH-PT30-26 (Jumper to 26 pin cable) as supplement.
2. Old type of GRP50 requires LAH-GRP26-03 cable.
