Empire Magnetics Inc.: Extended Temperature Brushless Motors – Frame Size 7.5 (R80 Series)
High Temperature Motors & Resolvers
High temperature motors, (HT- prefix) are provided with class H insulation systems. This insulation begins to melt at 180 degrees Centigrade. The heat generated by the motor must be subtracted away from the melting point of the insulation to obtain the maximum allowable ambient temperature. The ability of the motor to dissipate heat into the environment will also affect the maximum allowable ambient temperature. In typical stepper motor applications these motors will operate successfully up to +155 degrees C (refer to FAQ regarding heat losses). Provided the change in temperature does not exceed 10 degrees C. per minute, these motors can be used in a very wide range of temperatures. The HT series products without modifications are useful from 0 to about +155 (see heat loss details). For temperatures from 0 to -20 C most of the HT products can be used, but different lubrications are required. From -20 to -40 C some select products are suitable. Consult the factory before ordering. For temperatures lower than -40 C refer to Cryogenic products.
Extended Temperature Brushless Motors
Brushless Motors
Empire Magnetics' family of extended temperature rated motor/resolvers bundled with a drive system are ideal for efficient closed loop motion control applications. Empire Magnetics' brushless motor with a resolver form a single rugged component suitable for hostile environments. Drive electronics can be removed and controlled from a more hospitable location via RS-232
Motor Features:
These motors can accommodate rapid acceleration and deceleration. The brushless construction is made for reliability. The brushless resolver can be used as the feedback device. There is high torque to inertia ratio and stall torques from 14 to 451 lb-ins. The unique structure allows maximum power ratings, anti cog design and long life bearings.
The 7.5 inch square frame brushless motors (R80 series) include motor with continuous output torque ranging from 160 to 400 inch lb. (18 - 46 Nm), or momentary peak torque from 400 to 1000 inch lb. (45 - 113 Nm). Rotor inertia from 15 to 36.7 oz-in2. Continuous output power of 5900 to 7800 watts.
Note: Power output is dependent upon cooling capacity of mounting or system.
